What is Reiki and How can it help me?

The Chakra Energy System

“The distance between a dream and reality is called action”

Digestion

Our physical body is often a mirror for what is going on inside our emotional state.  Digestion problems are often associated with the Solar Plexus Chakra.  When we even out or reset that energy field many of our day-to-day stomach problems improve. Reiki is never a substitute for a medical doctor, but it often can be a wonderful compliment to overall health and how we perceive comfort or ability to manage pain. Often when we reset energies we find the desire to improve how we eat or what we ingest into our bodies- which assists our entire system. We are one physical body, not compartmentalized like Western Medicine would have us believe.

Body aches and pains

When you have pain management as a constant in your life, even if you are on prescription medication, there are complimentary actions you can take.  Allowing movement into your life such as Yoga and Meditation, a physical sport that you enjoy-or maybe it is allowing yourself the time to take your dog for a longer walk than usual or to take up gardening or take that beach vacay and walk barefoot in the sand – what ever you can do to be connected to the earth through movement and be more grounded, through the Root Chakra, you will encourage your mind to be at peace with your present state – true mindfulness and acceptance with who you are and the journey you are on with this life.  Reiki may allow you the ability to accept your present state and calm your mind to better manage pain and discomfort.

The Seven Chakras – and Beyond

The Chakra system…Google that and you will get a boatload of information…but here are the basics:  The word ‘chakra’ is derived from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘wheel’. Translated from Hindi it means ‘Wheel of spinning Energy’. A Chakra is like a whirling, vortex-like, powerhouse of energy, a rechargeable battery if you can visualize that. Within our physical bodies, which are truly no more or less than energy themselves… we have seven of these major energy centres and many more minor ones.  Acupuncturists use the mini-chakras when they place needles at these particular points in the body. Each of the seven major Chakras is rooted at key points in the body, each must spin clockwise in a healthy balanced body, and the energy of the body must be equally balanced between the seven energy centers for a physical body to be in harmony. Reiki seeks to balance those energy centers and bring harmony amongst them so you can be the best version of yourself. Energy healers work in the light and love gifted to them by Source or the Divine (many call that God) and are called to this higher Angel & spiritual healing work for the greater benefit of humanity and the Earth’s Collective Conscience.

Anxiety Stress and Sleeplessness

The sixth chakra, also known as the Third Eye rests above the brow and the back of the head.  When there is an imbalance in this energy field, sleep disturbances may occur as well as a racing mind so that one cannot settle down enough to sleep and get rest. We all know if we are not rested our physical bodies and minds are imbalanced-which can disturb much more than our resting state-but will affect our feelings of centeredness and calm energy needed for work and social interactions with others.

Unhealthy Patterns or Behaviors

Change is never comfortable, it is often a wild ride towards self-realization and higher purpose. Through Reiki we activate our higher vibrational state and those that don’t match our new state often fall by the wayside…this is never easy, most often painful, but we are better in the long run.

Past Physical or Emotional Trauma

We all have our stuff. The gunk. The stuff we can’t shake- it clings to us like lint from the dryer. Whether from childhood trauma, poor work experiences, failures in the educational system, or toxic relationships…we all have the power to release that stuff and dig deep so we can bring more balance and harmony into our lives.  Anger and frustration can be transformed to calmness and action. The key is to release that sticky mess from our energies where it is trapped so we can move forward.  Often we resist change when we are living from a place of fear and not love toward ourselves. Our lives, like the universe, are constantly in cycles of expansion or contraction.  The key is to seize those expansion times with action and movement or during times of contraction to reflect, heal, learn and grow.

Guidance and Synchronicity

We are here. That’s it. Why? Who knows but we ARE here.  How will you use your time and energy? This life has been given to us for growth and learning…and as uncomfortable as it may seem right now…to help others and journey together on this crazy adventure…we are spiritual beings, “energy” in a physical body of molecules of minerals and water, nothing more.  You were given a spiritual guide at birth to help you on this journey.  It may not be your first go-round…you might be one of those “old souls” that everyone tells you that you are.  Pay attention to the guidance and love from your guide or Spirit as some call it, that “inner voice” that tells you not to go down that road or to eat better…guidance comes from many angles and when we start listening we begin to notice the synchronicities in our lives as a form of communication.
